A FAMILY PROJECT HONOURING AN EXTRAORDINARY TERRITORY
Etna wines represent a remarkable part of our regional identity, alongside the treasures of culture, landscape, and art. They embody an ancient cultural heritage and an invaluable economic resource that deserves to be protected and enhanced. A strong identity is the foundation for effectively promoting our production area, our wineries, and our wines.
THIS IS WHY TENUTA ETNA NORD WAS CREATED
Tuscany and Sicily—or rather, Etna. Two families united by a shared passion for wine, terroir, and sustainability came together to create a new agricultural reality.
Thus, Tenuta Etna Nord was born from the collaboration between the Cantoni family, from Terricciola and owners of Fattoria Fibbiano in the province of Pisa, and the Di Bella family, from Castiglione di Sicilia, custodians for generations of native vineyards on the slopes of Mount Etna.

There are 133 Contrade on Etna, forming a complex mosaic of terroirs, where each area possesses unique characteristics linked to ancient lava flows, temperature variations, soil composition, and exposure. Every Contrada stands out as a true Cru.
The map of the Contrade, forming a reversed “C” around the volcano, inspired the label design of our Etna DOC wines.
This territory, often described as “an island within the island,” boasts a unique ecosystem with diverse pedoclimatic environments, particularly concentrated on the northern slope. In Castiglione di Sicilia alone, there are 46 Contrade, and Tenuta Etna Nord extends across 8 of them, between 500 and 800 meters above sea level.
These elevations are characterized by a relatively cool and dry climate, influenced by marine currents that rise from the Ionian Sea and reach our terraces through the Alcantara River, creating the ideal microclimate for the ripening of Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante grapes.
